Modularity proofs via fibered motives.

Abstract: I will explain how techniques of fibered hypergeometric motives can be used to provide `opportunistic' modularity proofs for conifold fibers in Calabi-Yau families. This is a report on joint work with Don Zagier, and work in progress with Kilian Bönisch and Albrecht Klemm.
